How to HideAppliion inControl Panel Add/Remove Programs


In this article, we will discusshow to hide an appliion fromshowing up in Add/RemovePrograms in controlpanel. There is no need todownload any software’s, and allwe have to do is to edit someinformation in the registry.The Add Remove programsfture in the control panelshows us the list of all progranstalled in the PC. Due to somersons if we don’t want anyparticular programs to show upin the list, use the following trickto hide programs from add/remove programs list in controlpanel.The program list which is shownin Add/Remove programs iscollected from registry pathshown below.

H_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE\\\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

So all we need to do is to go tothat particular uninstall entry ofthe program and change thedisplay name. Here I will showyou an example on how to hideYahoo Messenger from AddRemove programs list. Similarlyyou can do the same trick to hideprograms like u, GoogleTalk, MSN Messenger, facebookMessenger etc.
How to hide Programs from Add/Remove Programs list?


Click Start and type Regedit.exeRight click on regedit.exe andselect Run as Administrator.[You’ll require admin rights toedit registry]Navigate to the followingloion.

H_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\\\CurrentVersion \Uninstall\Yahoo Messenger
Click on Yahoo Messenger on leftpane.Now you can see the optionscoming up for Yahoo Messengerin the right pane of registryeditor.In the right pane, SelectDisplayName.Right click on DisplayName andselect Rename.Now change it any other value,like for example you can changeit to NeverDisplayName orNoDisplayName.After completing this trick, YahooMessenger program will not beshown in the Add/Removeprograms list.Similarly you can rept the sametrick to hide other programswhich you want to hide fromAdd/Remove programs list, likeMessengers, U, downloadmanagers etc. This forhiding programs from controlpanel will work on Vista, 7, XPand 8.
